I like this line from The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai; Buckaroo is wrapping up a delicate neurosurgery which is making him late for a desert jet car test of the oscillation overthruster which will allow him to drive through a mountain (sounds like a bubble of equivalent time).

Buckaroo Banzai: You can check your anatomy all you want, and even though there may be normal variation, when it comes right down to it, this far inside the head it all looks the same. No, no, no, don't tug on that. You never know what it might be attached to.

Best free advertising for a product I've ever seen. I'm not one to usually follow suit with something that's becoming an internet trend, but the tears in my eyes after watching this say that it's too funny not to share. Click X if the pesky red tag comes up at the start of the video and enjoy!

"A bit of sardonic humor..."

Ahahahaha! This is me to a T. I always pay with cash, never card, and I can't tell ya how many times I've had people say, "you still pay with cash? That's a lost art." I even have a leather pouch with a twine string, one that I made a few year's back, in which I hold my coins. I often take it out and untie it at registers to make exact change.

First off, my brother-in-law is going to do a 3D, quaternion rotation when he sees this :-)

Second, it's great when people just LOSE IT, even for something as ridiculous as this. I couldn't help but laugh along. I get like this around Jack-in-the-Boxes. It's super weird. I just fall instantly into hysterics. It's something about the 'anticipation' of the thing jumping out of the box, and the absurd music that precedes this; which is why this scene is one of my all-time favs:

Here is an anecdote from Heinrich Böll which I read in 7th grade the first time. There are several shortened versions on various websites and blogs. This one is the full translation of the anecdote (first two pages of the pdf):
https://www.uni-hildesheim.de/media/_mi ... _Boell.pdf

edit: I put it into a single image.

So, I'm kind of a fan of The New Yorker's Cartoon Caption Content. Every month, they feature a new, single-panel drawing, and anyone can register to submit a caption for the image, as well as to vote for the top three finalists.

Not sure if anyone else here is interested in this, but it's a fun bit of silliness that gives me a laugh. Here is the latest image: http://contest.newyorker.com/CaptionContest.aspx

My caption is, "Would you like the six inch or the foot long?" (ya know, 'Subway' sandwiches? Get it? ). Well, at least I'm laughing!
